Day 1 July 5th

I rode up to Kingman to meet up with my friend Sherm. His wife Pat fed me a second breakfast and then we were off on the first leg of our trip to Deadwood SD.
We rode from Kingman north on Hwy 93 until we reached Lake Mead. From there we took the road that goes through the Lake Mead National Recreation area.
It seems strange to be riding in 111* temps with full riding jackets on, but we both had on cool vest that are soaked in water and act like evaporative coolers when the air flows across them. They act like a wet sauna when you are standing still. :(
There are a lot of these washes that feed into the lake during the monsoon season.
Driving north along the west side of the lake are some very pretty desert hills. East coasters would probably call them mountains.
Kind of rude of this guy on a Trimuph to just ride through my scene as I was snapping the picture. <G>
More desert color.

Finally it's got a bike in the picture again.

It didn't take this guy long to get comfortable after we got off of the bikes.
